About Brenda Jones

I grew up on Prince Edward Island and moved to Montreal in my early 20's, where after much searching I had the good fortune to land a job working on an animated feature film. This opened up a whole new career for me, and soon after I began working at the National Film Board, where I spent 5 years working with many talented and award-winning filmmakers and learned a lot about animation and illustration.

Over the next 20 years I worked in the private sector doing color design, backgrounds, and art direction for many animated television series.  I began illustrating books in what little spare time I had after my daughter was born, and in the late 80's I landed my first publishing contract. I've now published around 20 books, two of which won the Lillian Shepherd Award for Excellence in Illustration.

I returned to my native PEI in 2008 and have continued to illustrate as well as working with acrylics to try to capture the beautiful scenery here on the Island.
